Great stay at Best Western
From check-in to the complimentary breakfast (now with Belgian waffles!!), our stay was delightful. We stayed in a King Suite on the 4th floor. There is no balcony or view to speak of, however the room was huge and very clean. We did have a squeaky bathroom door, which was rectified within minutes of our reporting it. The staff is very friendly. Our room was very quiet and the bed was comfortable. I highly recommend this property.
Fit our needs perfectly!!!
The online photos of this property are accurate...so goin\' in everyone knows they\'re not gonna be at a Hilton or Four Seasons. Seriously! Those who have been somewhat disparaging about this property should be blaming themselves, not the Best Western.
The Good: Let\'s start with the front desk staff. Maybe I was fortunate enough to be greeted by the owner and his wife...I don\'t know, but they were not only informative and efficient--they were genuine and FRIENDLY!!! How often does that happen anymore?
While there isn\'t a pool at this specific property, there are TWO (and one is heated) available just right down the street. The heated pool overlooks the Bay---scenic!
Our room was definitely clean and very spacious. The jetted tub was a pleasant surprise and...best of all to me..PANTENE shampoo was the complimentary amenity! I\'ve stayed at some pretty swanky hotels (eg.. Hyatt Grand Tampa, Ritz Carlton Sarasota, Four Seasons Atlanta) and their fancy \"spa quality\" amenities usually smell awful (who wants the smell of pomegranates in their hair?) and leave my hair dried out. Kudos to whomever picked the Pantene!!!
The breakfast (complimentary) was fantastic for being \"continental\". Gotta love the Belgian waffle makers, muffins, and oatmeal. What more do you need?
The hotel is perfectly located. No, it\'s not on the Boardwalk, and it doesn\'t have a view of the Atlantic. Still, we were able to walk across the street one block to beach access. Further, this hotel is very close to all the cheesy, beach stores my kids love to blow their allowance in, as well as within walking distance to several fabulous restaurants! Mackey\'s (not sure if I spelled that right) was ok and Fager\'s looks like a fantastic night spot...even though we didn\'t have time to eat there.
The only (can I stress ONLY) negative would be the blankets on our bed. They appeared pretty old, but probably would\'ve passed muster if they\'d been \'double-sheeted\' like some hotels now do. I know it\'s extra laundry, but it just feels much more sanitary.
Still, the price at the BW was much less than say, the Holiday Inn or some other ocean front properties, and I was over-the-top pleased with most everything. Great experience. Thanks BW!
A Good Place to Stay Among the Fancy, Plain and Honky Tonks in Ocean City.
We came to this hotel as a party of ten -- eight Danish visitors with limited English language capability, including two small children, plus my wife and myself. I had chosen this hotel for reasonably good location and price and had reserved four rooms. Check in was smooth, fast and most competently handled. Fourth floor rooms were spacious, nicely furnished; bathrooms were OK, on the small side, but bathtub with jacuzzi features was a great hit with our Danish visitors. Beds were very comfortable and remarked upon favorably by all of us. Free continental breakfast offered nice range of items--make-your-own waffles, bagels, English muffins, toast, yogurt, cereals, juice, etc., etc., and waffles were particularly appreciated. Location was excellent -- on one side, ocean was a block away; on other side, the lagoon provided nice view of a beautiful sunset. We found this to be one of the nicest Best Westerns we have stayed in and certainly plan to stay there again on a subsequent visit. I understand from the management that in season there may be a noise problem from exuberant guests but that they try very hard to maintain peace, order and decorum.
